Capsule Pack has introduced new biodegradable and compostable packaging to help reduce the impact packaging has on the environment.
The new range complements Capsule Packs’ leading biodegradable and compostable Nespresso® compatible coffee capsules.
This new innovation in packaging is fully accredited to EN13432 and Vincotte OK Compost Standards for both home and industrial composting. They are also independently tested to show that they biodegrade at ambient temperature within 26 weeks, in a home composting environment, and break down naturally back into water, minerals and Co2 without any negative effect on the environment.
The material is sourced from sustainably grown paper and cellulose. This ensures that at least one tree is grown for every tree felled. These materials are then combined with biopolymers derived from Cassava, sugar cane and corn starch.
Utilising these biodegradable resources reduces the reliance on Petrochemical based plastics. These non-biodegradable plastics are either not recycled or recyclable. Utilising this organic material in our coffee capsule packaging gives a viable recyclable alternative.
It’s oxygen and moisture barrier performance delivers extended product shelf life to minimise packed product waste. The lightweight and flexible design offer a lower carbon footprint solution compared with heavier packaging formats.
Compostable flexible packaging is a credible alternative to landfill disposal for non-recyclable packaging and environmentally conscious companies.
