We are pleased to announce the improved BioCap biodegradable coffee capsule – 100% compostable, with a 12 month shelf life.
When we originally started producing coffee capsules in 2013, they were made from plastic, and later made biodegradable in 2016.
The biggest issue with these biodegradable capsules is that they require special packaging in the form of a nitrogen-flushed sleeve to hold in the freshness. This adds a layer of complexity to the packaging process as well as adding to the overall package size and weight.
The new capsules are hermetically sealed, meaning they are airtight – the key to increasing shelf life and minimising packaging. They are also made completely from sugarcane and sugar beet.
Our facility is now ready to handle a production capacity of 25 million capsules per year, enough to meet the demand of not only local, but also international markets.
